Hope you all enjoy this: the Silver Age Supergirl Comics page has been updated with Supergirl’s 1960′s appearances in Action Comics and the complete run of Daring New Adventures of Supergirl from 1982-1984. Yay! Also, the images for the first 1972-1974 Supergirl series are now 40% larger.
don’t know if this is the right place to post, but i found another site that sells backissues of PAD’s Supergirl series. this time it’s a Canadian-based store. http://www.hillcity-comics.com
:)
I’ll add it to the links!
cool.
it’s kind of suprising how few online stores carry this series. :I
Speaking of Supergirl’s Action comics appearances, I just read today on Comics Continuum that DC is doing a Showcase Supergirl that encompasses 30 Action comics appearances among others. Here’s the text:
“Showcase Presents: Supergirl Vol. 1 TP collects stories from Action Comics #252-281, Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen #40, 44, 46, 51 And 52, Adventure Comics #278, Superboy #80, Superman’s Girl Friend Lois Lane #314, and Superman #123, 139, 140 and 144, written by Otto Binder, Jerry Siegel, Robert Bernstein and others with art by Al Plastino, Jim Mooney, Curt Swan, Dick Sprang, Kurt Schaffenberger, Wayne Boring and others.
Showcase Presents: Supergirl Vol. 1 is a 528-page black and white trade paperback with a cover price of $16.99, and is scheduled to arrive in stores on Nov. 28.”
That’d make a nice Christmas present, don’t you think? ;-)
Ah! That goes with the upcoming Batgirl Vol. 1 Showcase (with the awful cover). But…it’s black and white =( I’d never buy a Showcase. Still, good to know, so thanks for telling me. Looks like they’ve given up on the Archives.
I bought the new SUPERGIRL ARCHIVES VOL.#1 so I won’t need to buy all the old ACTION simply for the Supergirl stories and it is worth it,in many ways, but the COVER does NOT look good,in MY opinion,at least as not as good as the way she is drawn inside and elsewhere.Agree/disagree?
by the way, sadly,I think on this cover, they made her look ‘odd’, not ‘cute’ like in the old comics
Oh, you mean the Frank *I can’t draw and hate women* Miller cover. Yeah… There was a big deal made about that when it was first published. There’s no doubt it hurt sales. As I remember, it was pretty universally decried as crap. Did you read the introduction by the editor, Diana Schultz? She very diplomatically doesn’t say anything about the, ahem, quality of the cover. I’m sure she had no idea when she asked Frank to do the cover (as an incentive for DC to publish it!) that he would turn around and present her with that sorry excuse for “artwork”. Can you imagine how she must have felt?
THANKS for letting me know this was NOT done on purpose(by the editor)! I don’t know how this was done with a clear conscience.
does anyone know if they will CONTINUE to release SUPERGIRL ARCHIVES?
