Shoot. Sean McKeever unceremoniously dumped Supergirl out of the book in Teen Titans #55 (viewable at Scans Daily). Have to revise my list of issues featuring Supergirl! I never actually read the TT issues where she was in it >_< I was looking forward to doing so at some point. I have to say it was a really stupid way of writing her out. (Who actually says, “Do me a favor: lose my number”?) For that she leaves the team? Worst of all, this means the end of a much-needed female friendship for Supergirl (and retroactively taints all the good scenes between Cassie and Kara in her own series). There aren’t enough of those in superhero comics to begin with, so I’m more than a little peeved with McKeever for writing off that relationship so casually.
From the Newsarama interview with McKeever:
NRAMA: Why was the decision made to have Supergirl leave the team?
SM: Well, you know, when I started, I was pretty happy with who we had on the team. We had all the iconic teen characters in there, and bringing in Blue Beetle as a regular cast member was a great choice and bringing in Supergirl was a great choice. But after writing this arc and thinking about where I wanted to go with the book, it just made a certain amount of sense for Kara not to be there. It made story sense, and that’s explained pretty well in #55.
After reading this one issue, I have no desire to ever read Teen Titans again while McKeever’s writing it. I hear he’s mucked up Birds of Prey in the same way: one-trick pony much?
ETA: I’m behind on Supergirl and the Legion of Super-Heroes and I don’t know whether #36 or #37 is the last issue in which Supergirl appears. Could someone confirm that (without spoiling me)?
Erm, how AR do you feel today? #36 is the last she appears in, but there’s a panel in #37 where her picture is displayed with the other legionnaires, and they talk about her a little? (And in #39, there is her *name* and *location*.)
Thanks, I found the way the series is listed on comics.org to be very confusing. That’s the perfect level of AR for me ^_^ (took me a while to figure out what that meant)
I’m rly hating McKeever’s runs on both Titans and BoP. I swear the only reason he kicked Kara off the team (in such a humiliating stupid abrupt way too) was b/c in his mind it’s all about teh highschool dramaz and clichez, and what’s the point in having 2 blondes on the team? Durh *sighs*
He’s completely writing the chars wrong too, esp how they treat Kid Devil >:|
And the destruction of the Kara/Cassie friendship was so flip with just the “oh I realized I was trying to replace Connor with you”. I mean wtf. That’s like having Cassie say “the only reason I was friends with you is cuz my boyfriend was black/Asian/whatever and you are too… so that’s why!” Urgh.. and it does just taint every scene they had before :(
I luffed McKeever on Spiderman Lovess MJ. But his DC stuff right now is just.. blugh.. he seems trapped in highschool too. e_e
Apparently your blog hates my angle bracket faces XD So that’s why the last comment was so messed up :(
So I really, really shouldn’t read BoP anymore or TT? Please let him be another writer who gets kicked off very quickly (like they’re doing with the artists in SG and TT!)

I wish I could figure out how to change that! Because I use angle bracket faces a lot myself. I found the only way around it was by using the HTML:
& g t ; (>) and & l t ; (< )
I really must figure out how to install that plug-in that allows comment editing…
He’s being booted off BoP in favour of Bedard again. :o Which is good since he’s trying to do teh highschool dramaz thing there TOO and srsly… is that ALL he can write now? >:\
I dunno about TT. I think that the higher ups think he’s perfectly suited to that book >_>
