After a nice couple months off, I’m ready to start posting again starting with my impressions of Reign in Hell #1, which I plan to pick up tomorrow (new comics come out Thursdays here). I’ve been blissfully hype-free for a while, and I think that’s how I want to continue playing it: I’m just going to pick up the comics with as little info about them beforehand, and basically read them in a vacuum (i.e. without following other blogs, press releases, etc). As much as one can do on the internet, of course =)
Following the end of Smallville I was rather burnt out from reviewing a TV series I didn’t really enjoy that much. I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m just not masochistic enough to finish reviewing the episodes I didn’t get to. The fact that Smallville is dissing Supergirl and not inviting Laura Vandervoort back for the next season also left a really sour taste in my mouth, that going back to rewatch the episodes would be even more depressing.
I just wanna get back to enjoying comics.

In other news, I’m considering the SUPERGIRL 1:6 SCALE Deluxe Collector Figure. However at $89.99 USD I don’t know if I can justify it =) I’ve already told myself I can’t buy the too too gorgeous Tonnor doll (shown further down the page in that link) but looking at it again….argh I want! I hope they hurry up and come out with the Barbie Collector Supergirl so my Flamebird and Nightwing action figures will have some company =) I bought ‘em at Keycon 25 way back in May*, but only recently took them out of the boxes, and they look SWELL. Poor Kara keeps falling over though because the way she’s built (one hip higher than the other, legs splayed too far apart) her centre of gravity is off. It’s a rather hilarious example of the superheroine pose that would never work in real life.
*Keycon was my first con, and it was awesome: I attended three very interesting panels that all happened to feature Tanya Huff, author of the Blood books. I was too shy to get her to sign anything, but I am *such* a fangirl now =) Oh, Jane Yolen was there too =)
Hi
I’m looking for a Supergirl story from the early seventies about a scientist who tried to destroy the world because it was so damned evil. Kara thwarts his plan but in the end she is philosophical; musing about his satellite’s destruction somewhat like a wishing star. I can’t remember the details but I would like very much to find this story. Can you help?
Let me post this on the front page and see what the readers come up with!
