Supergirl Series Creative Teams

I’ve compiled a list of the many writers and artists (pencillers) who have worked on Supergirl vol. 5 to-date (plus the S/B issues for good measure). This series is famous for its revolving door of creative teams (edited to note: up to Supergirl #34), but I never realized just how frequently artists have changed over a mere 32 issues. You can also see images of Supergirl by the various artists.

  1. How things have changed. Leonard Kirk and my husband Robin were on that title (when Peter David was writing it) for FOUR AND A HALF YEARS. 32 issues is, what, less than three years, right? Glad Brad’s doing it now, he’s a terrific penciller.

  2. the revolving door of artists/writers makes it really hard to get into Supergirl. i just wish DC would pick a vision/direction for the title and …GASP!!!…. stick with it.

  3. They have changed! Just as a reader, the constant change in writers/artists on this book and others is boggling and I can’t get used to it. I just get attached to a writer or artist and they get pulled away. I considered including the inkers and cover artists as well, but my eyes glazed over at that point. I think the list makes the point as it stands.

I really miss the years when your husband worked on the book – four and a half years did not feel like an overlong time at all! But I can’t begin to imagine what it must be like for the people working on these titles, when they can’t be certain from month to month what books they’ll be doing.

(Oh, and, Brad Walker is only on for one issue. There’s yet another creative team starting on #34.)

  4. I hope they leave the new creative team there for a good long time and give them a chance to put a consistant direction to the character and the book and stuff :)
