1. Hahaha this is great!
   On a side note- are you reading Birds of Prey? I have to admit the Benes art is really getting to me. Especially the scene in Birds of Prey #3 where The Penguin is dreaming of the Birds trying to get with him. I mean it was funny but at the same time excessive cheesecake. I mean i don’t want to see butt-floss every time i open a book featuring an all female cast. I don’t understand why every time they get a comic with all women you get great writing (mostly) but terrible cheesecake art. Like why can’t we get a balance of both. I mean Benes was pretty good on Many Happy Returns, Supergirl arc. But now he is just terrible. I would rather have Cliff Chaing he’s been nailing the covers. I think the Birds deserve better…rant over sorry.
   But what did you think about this?

2. I’m reading BOP but I haven’t picked up #3 yet. That scene with Penguin seems so…forced. *sigh*

   I thought Benes was pretty reined in on the first issue, but he started slipping by the end. By the second issue, it was back to classic Benes: “sexy” poses for every female character despite being in super-serious situations.

   The guy has some great skills, but it’s beyond irritating how every panel and cover of his screams “hetero male gaze”. If I wanted the come-hither fanboy version of JLA or BOP I’d go to his DeviantArt page for that. It’s totally inappropriate as for-hire work. Putting him on BOP makes me think DC didn’t trust Gail Simone’s name and the book’s fanbase to pull in enough readers, so they brought in the cheesecake artist for the undiscriminating softcore porn audience.

   I wish Benes would just go work at the porn comic publishers and be done with it. That seems to be where his interests lie.

   (Cliff Chiang would be AWESOME.)
