Sterling Gates and Jamal Igle at Baltimore Comic-Con

Supergirl Comic Box Commentary’s Anj attended the Baltimore Comic-Con recently where Gates and Igle made an appearance. He has written up the DC panels and his conversations with the creators here: Baltimore Comic-Con: Discussion with Sterling Gates and Jamal Igle.

The first point noted is that Jamal Igle is currently scheduled to pencil Supergirl #59, and that there was no official word on who the artist is on Supergirl #60. Not good.

Supergirl #57 is being drawn by Bernard Chang and concludes the BizarroGirl storyline. This includes an appearance by the Bizarro Justice League.

Oh, yuck. I am not a fan of Bernard Chang’s art, to put it mildly. I’ve never been happy when he’s guest-pencilled on other books.

Jamal slipped a Bizarro Sterling Gates into Supergirl #56. The Bizarro Sterling sees Supergirl and says ‘she am so ugly’.

Ahahahah! Can’t wait!

Lots more juicy details about the upcoming Supergirl Annual and more are in the post, check it out!

  1. Matt Camp, “Supergirl” fill-in artist extraordinaire, deserves the promotion to full-time artist. He drew the wonderful issue a couple months ago that showed things from Alura’s point of view. I am very pleased that he is handling the art on the upcoming Supergirl Annual. Camp has a style that is detailed yet clean, very nice work. And he draws a great Supergirl, too. I would also love to see Cliff Chiang, who drew the back-up to “Supergirl” #50, or Jesus Saiz, who is doing an amazing job on “Brave and the Bold.” Hopefully, with Igle’s departure, we won’t have to endure months of subpar fill-in work from Bernard Chang. We’ll just have to wait and see.

  2. Oh yes, Matt Camp. I would love having him on the book. There would be no complaints from this quarter. Cliff Chiang was wonderful on Supergirl #50, but his style would be quite an adjustment. I haven’t seen Jesus Saiz’ work in Brave and Bold.
