I tried out the first issue of Zatanna, but the vaguely creepy vibe that I’ve found infuses all the books Paul Dini writes about female characters was a real put-off. I bought the book because my boyfriend likes the character, but he wasn’t impressed with the issue either. So that was that. This art is really nice though…
This is a great book for Jamal’s talents, I must say!

But we have a lot of friends in common, so perhaps it was just him going off half-cocked once and I should give him the benefit of the doubt. Plus, he’s in a good position to write the character’s day job since that’s what his wife does for a living (she even looks like Zatanna).
Robin will be inking 8 pages of Zatanna #9 over Jamal (Dini didn’t write that issue).
Sounds like a good issue to give it another try *mental note*
