DC eliminated our favourite characters for these guys?

Who’s on your list of DCnU characters that shouldn’t been given a book?

Me: all the war titles*, OMAC, Red Lanterns (there are WOMEN in the Green Lantern Corps too, DC, or DID YOU FORGET?), Deathstroke, Grifter, and Frankenstein top the list. Basically any books that scream “I am a MACHO MACHO MAN, look how big my dick weapon is.”

*To quote my boyfriend on Blackhawks: “No Zinda? BULLSHIT.” He wasn’t impressed with the Call of Duty rip-off either. If they can’t even win the straight white male gamer demo, they’re sunk.

  1. Well I scanned all that war stuff looking for Garth Ennis, not finding him promptly ignored it.

I briefly considered Frankenstein then discounted it but will pickup the I, Vampire to replace Zatanna.

Guess I might be down on titles at the end of the day, more money for beer :)

  2. I wouldn’t be so annoyed if some of these titles were run in Vertigo, where they belong. The problem is that folding them into the main DC line means existing books have to be cut to make room for them.

There’s the other problem: will these kinds of titles disappoint readers expecting Vertigo quality? I’m not convinced titles like Swamp Thing, Frankenstein, or Jonah Hex are best served by being published under DCU’s main line.

But OMAC and Red Lanterns…no. Just no. There was no need for those.

  3. OMAC, Red Lanters, Swamp Thing (lol finally saw the movie the other week) Frankenstein and Jonah Hex sound like mini series or titles headed down the dark roads of early cancellation to me anyway.

Just saw Justice League Dark does have Zatanna in it (must have missed that previously) so that could be a good straight Zatanna swap on my list.

Still intrigued by I, Vampire though I think this will probably have a short run as well.

Just read Garth Ennis’s Crossed series (in TPB) and while impressed was massively creeped out. Hope he comes back to do something mainstream soon enough. He does have a series called Jennifer Blood which I started picking up but haven’t opened up yet.

For fans of the long-running Jonah Hex and of Swamp Thing, that would be a bitter outcome.

  4. I’m not really interested in the war stuff, either. I don’t feel like it’s macho so much, as I’m just a little warred out in reality — I don’t feel like reading about it in my comics.

OMACS? Not really interested, either. RED LANTERNS, otoh, I’ll be getting because of the creative team (Milligan/Benes), and because Atrocitus makes me laugh. He’s so over the top, I enjoy him.

    I, VAMPIRE looks interesting.

I’m not very interested in GRIFTER or STORMWATCH, either really. But if they get good reviews, I’m open to seeing how they look.

I am VERY happy that there will be two LEGION titles! Yay! :)

      Ouch. Yes. Very good point.

Ah, that’s why I love Larfleeze :) I don’t think he could carry an ongoing, but a backup could be fun.

  5. I will be getting far fewer DC books. I figure I am dropping Wonder Woman. I stayed through all the crap of the first “reboot” of her book. I just am burned out on support of a book DC does not support.

Supergirl I am waffling. I do not like the plot released and teased, but I want to support the character.

I am losing Birds of Prey, Power Girl, Secret Six, Zatanna, Batgirl……the last of which makes me want to cry as Stephanie makes me laugh as I enjoy her adventures.

So far I plan on picking up the Green Lantern stuff, Blue Beetle, and Suicide Squad.

Had they added Hawk Woman to the Hawkman book I might have gotten it. Aquaman is a possible because it might actually be a good book. I have been waiting for Batwomna for a while so that is good. Only Batman Beyond seems spared, I guess it is still being published.

    • That’s the exact state of my pull-list too! I gave up on Wonder Woman already; at this point my trust has to be won back in a big way to trust my heart to that book again.

Power Girl, Batgirl, Secret Six, BoP…all gone. I will miss Power Girl the most, I’m surprised to find. It was just starting to get amazing again. I feel the exact same way about Supergirl. So undecided about that.

I so want to read a Hawkwoman or Hawkgirl again! I loved the short run that Hawkgirl/Kendra Saunders had One Year Later. I still have to read the last few issues.

I’m also considering Blue Beetle, plus Static and Voodoo (the ONLY new female lead book in the whole line-up, not counting the long-promised Batwoman).

I sure hope some new female-lead books get added after September, because there’s very little in the 52 that interests me.
