@JAMALIGLE Did you get a #NuDC book?

@GrowlersWorld. No I wasn’t asked to participate in the #NuDC relaunch.

@JAMALIGLE That’s a shame. What’s your next assignment? Are you DC exclusive? Anything Marvel planned?
9 Jun@JAMALIGLE
@GrowlersWorld I’m still exclusive. At the moment I’m pencilling Superman # 713 and 714 the last two parts of grounded.
So many good creators are being left without work in this relaunch. Doesn’t matter how good the work is or how well it’s selling. That’s what sickens me the most about the relaunch.
Bleeding Cool has a list of the creators we won’t be seeing in September:
And with new books and new creative teams, there are also losers. There’s also no work from creators working for DC in August including Robin Riggs (added), James Robinson, Scott Kolins, Phil Jiminez, Jamal Igle, Adam Schlagman, Jonathan Vankin, David Hine, Brian Miller, Peter Calloway, Felicia Henderson, Jock, Brian Wood, Brian Clevinger, Marc Andreyko, Tom DeFalco, Chris Roberson, Kelly Sue DeConnick, Phil Hester, Howard Chaykin, JG Jones, Will Pfeiffer, James Patrick, Marc Guggenheim, Marv Wolfman, Matthew Sturges, Nick Spencer,
Frazer Irving, Andy Kubert, Fernando Blanco, Felipe Massafera, Rex Ogle, Ibraim Roberson, Scott Clark, Alejandro Giraldo, Rodney Buchemi, Eddie Nunez, Javi Fernandez, Oliver Nome, Gene Ha, Marco Castiello, Mike Miller, Howard Porter, Daniel Sampere, Ron Randall, Kevin Maguire, Jerry Bingham, Sergio Cariello, Rich Buckler, Paris Cullins, Mike Bowden, Steve Scott, Jay Fabok, Greg Tocchini, Todd McCarthy, Carlos D’anda, Pere Perez, Chris Batista, Adam Beechen, Marcus To, Andres Guinaldo, Billy Tucci, Ron Frenz, Allan Goldman, Piers Gallo, Chriscross, Tomas Giorello, Don Kramer, Geraldo Borges, Phil Winslade, Agustin Padilla, Jerry Ordway, J Calafiore, Hendry Prasetya, Mike Grell, Nicola Scott, Jose Luis, Fabrizio Fiorentino and Victor Ibanez
Some of those people will already have work lined up, and some work at Marvel or have other gigs to fall back on. We also know from past experience that at least some of the relaunch books will see an artist or writer bail within a few months. And every creative team gets replaced eventually. But for DC to have creators on exclusive, for whom DC books are their livelihood, and not even have a promise of work for them in the near future? That’s reprehensible.

Part of me feels that this DCnU is some horrible dream I’m having, and all I have to do is wake up…..
Funny, I’m having the same dream!
I absolutely hate this. I’m hoping my favorite creators now without work at DC end up doing amazing independent books and I’ll get those. I’m revamping my entire pull list and expect to get no more than 5 DC titles come Sept.
I am very disappointed to read this list. What a great group of creators. Jamal Igle does amazing work. And whatever happened to Supergirl fill-in artist extraordinaire Matt Camp? The Super-family solicitations are posted on the DC Source blog, and I’m even more frustrated to read those. It’s just business as usual, except now Supergirl is an “unpredictable teenager” who does not share Superman’s “affection for the people of Earth.” Sounds like a huge step in the wrong direction, if you ask me.
Funny, “Other Aaron” (that’s what I’m going to call you :) ), I feel that it’s a step in absolutely the right direction.
I’ve always felt that Kara should seem very alien when compared with Clark. I mean, one day she’s on Krypton, living her life. The next day, she’s rocketed off to another planet, one that’s very, very different (and honestly, backwards) from her now destroyed home-world.
So now, she not only has the sorts of issues all teenagers have, but she’s essentially alone, has no more home to go back to, her entire family, all her friends, and her whole culture has been wiped out. “Unpredictable” isn’t that much of a stretch, IMO. And why would she have the same concern for these alien Earthlings, whose world probably looks totally backwards to her?
Anyhow, I’m very excited by the potential here.
Actually, isn’t this what we had when they first brought back Kara? Isn’t this the Kara that Sterling Gates and Jamal Igle fixed? I hate going backward, which is why I won’t be reading the new Supergirl book or pretty much any other DC book. I think my pull list for DC is going down to 2-4 titles, depending on how much I like them. I grew up with Supergirl, back when she was in Adventure Comics. I stopped reading comics for a decade when they killed her off in the first Crisis. And I’ll be darned if I support this rebooting to someone I can’t recognize or love. Better they should just have started the entire DCU over from scratch than this.
Well, considering I dropped the title soon after Gates took over, “fixed” is a relative term, obviously.
If this does go in the “more alien” direction which it seems maybe it will, and for which I am hoping, I’ll be thrilled. And I’ll be buying the title for the first time in a couple of years.
Rich left out “Robin Riggs.” I’m grateful DC keeps sending us comp boxes, but it would be nicer if they employed him more.
