For the record, I’m not buying any of the DC New 52. In the end, it was a surprisingly easy decision. To echo the sentiments expressed in this thread, I’m waiting for DC to repopulate their universe with interesting people.
BUT.
I would be one of the fans swearing to buy every single book in the new DCU if it looked like THIS.
The Gender Bent Justice League Cosplayers

Admittedly I would miss Wonder Woman and Power Girl an awful lot, but if it were a smaller “Ultimates” line in addition to the main DCU (you know, that fabled parallel universe where all the female and characters of colour reside), it would be pretty sweet.
It might be even more interesting if in that alternate universe, if everyone there used all gender neutral pronouns such as “ze” and “hir,” instead of “he,” “she,” “him,” and “her.”
Such a language change might further challenge a lot of ideas about what it means to be Super”man” or Power “Girl”. Sure they might have the physique of amazing breasts or a fantastic member between the legs, but they might be valued even more for quite simply — the unique, super individuals that they are.
This is certainly an interesting topic of potentiality.

Brilliant! You’re right, codenames built on sex would be unfathomable in such a universe.
(Now I’m thinking of Janet Evason in The Female Man explaining that “Evason is not ‘son’ but ‘daughter.’ This is your translation”.)
