Power-Girl.org Launch

You may have noticed all the Power Girl posts recently and thought, “Power Girl should have her own site!”

Yeah? Me too! While I’ve thought of Maid of Might as a co-Supergirl/Power Girl fansite for a while, Supergirl naturally always comes first. And I think Power Girl deserves better than that.

That’s why I’m happy to announce that Power-Girl.org is officially live!

I also recently started a tumblr to keep track of my favourite fanart pieces I find. Expect a lot more picspamming both here and over at Power-Girl.org in the future!

Maid of Might Comics Updates

The Supergirl Project site recently expanded to include comics scans from the ’60s-80s. I’m loving how great the old Silver and Bronze Age issues look on my Nexus 7 tablet. I understand now the enthusiasm about reading comics on tablets – even a 7-inch is a better experience than on PC. Here’s hoping DC gets more of their back catalog on Comixology soon.

The Maid of Might Comics pages have received some major updates recently. The Silver Age Supergirl page finally has a complete listing (it’s huge!) of all Supergirl appearances by publication date, and new pages have been opened for Superman Family Adventures and the Ame-Comi Girls (Digital)

I’m working on adding issue data for New 52 Supergirl and Power Girl. The only New 52 I’ve read is the first trade of Supergirl. I’m not interested in the new universe and will likely not read other New 52 books until it’s reached the point of being “historical”, in the same way I can read the more lousy Post-Crisis stuff with the distance of time.

Lastly, the “About”, “Supergirl” and “Power Girl” pages have been merged into “About Supergirl” and “Comics”. No content was removed, just a bit of restructuring to simplify navigation. Reducing the number of top-level menu items also fixed an issue on some mobile devices where the last few links in the menu wouldn’t load.

“Superman: Unbound” Trailer Screencaps

I’ve screencapped the trailer and you can now view all 131 caps in the gallery. I was delighted to see some shots that you miss while viewing the video. (I used aTube Catcher to download the MP4 from YouTube and VLC for screencapping.)

The more I watch this, the more excited I’m becoming. Kara’s look is growing on me – I like it better than in the Superman: Brainiac comic, and I’ve even gotten used to Superman’s look. Maybe they were modelling him a bit after the V.A.? I found Matt Bomer’s voice to be a distraction at first, as I couldn’t help picturing Neal Caffrey every time Superman spoke, but it’s growing on me.

A release date of May 7, 2013 has now been announced. I think I’ll be getting the blu-ray just for all the behind the scenes goodness. Here’s hoping for a good audio commentary (I may have been spoiled by the fantastic commentaries on Justice League: The New Frontier). Can’t wait!

Updates for Supergirl (Animated) and Power Girl Comics

Status

The Supergirl in the DC Animated Universe page has had some new content added (expanded profile, TV episode summaries) and copy rewritten.

Some new issues have been added to the Power Girl comics page, which doesn’t list every issue she’s ever appeared in (that’s what the Comic Book Database is for!), but covers what I hope are all of the relevant and/or interesting appearances for her. Issues added: Showcase: Power Girl (1978), Huntress: Dark Knight Daughter (TPB), Secret Origins #11 (1987), downloads for Power Girl (1988), Infinite Crisis, the latest JSA trades, and Justice League: Generation Lost. The page was getting so long that I decided to break it up into three distinctive “era” pages.

Site Update: Supergirl Comics pages

Status

During the site makeover I converted the page for the recently concluded Supergirl series, from a listing of all the issues, to a listing of all the collected trade paperbacks. Her guest appearances have been moved to a separate page, updated with Infinite Crisis, the Trinity weekly series, Justice League: Cry For Justice (I know, ick), Justice League of America, and Reign of Doomsday. No content was removed, just consolidated.

If you need a chronological listing of Supergirl appearances by either issue date or series, Comic Book DB is the best source. I link to that site and the similar Grand Comic Database, which has detailed issue descriptions and synopses, on nearly every comics page for convenience.
