*contains music from Superman by John Williams.

Varese Sarabande released the original soundtrack but it wasn't complete, and is very hard to find. Silva Screen decided to release the album again in 1993, but this time, they released the entire film score including some alternates. Unfortuantly, this score isn't easy to find, especially in the States.

The Overture opens the CD, this is the longer version of the End Title which was never used in the film. The Overture is comprised of three main themes : The Supergirl march, love theme and the Monster theme for Selena.

The Main Title is slower than the Varese version, this is the film version with the synth effects which isn't too distracting. The March segues into Argo City.

The Flying Ballet is a superb piece, probably the best music on the CD. This was not used in the U.S. theatrical cut.

Moving onto the Map, another terrfic cue, didn't make it into the U.S. theatrical version.

The Monster Track is a good action cue, Supergirl saves Ethan.

Flying Ballet (alternate) - This was used in the U.S. edition, and features more synths.

The Map (alternate) -  More electronics

First Kiss/Monster Storm -  This version contains more Electronic effects than the original Varese version, however, this take is used in the film.

The Final Showdown is another great piece of film scoring, action packed! The End Title featured on this CD is used in the final film. The three primary themes give a fitting resolution to the score.

Jerry Goldsmith is one of my favourite composers, he has scored so many films. With Supergirl, Jerry provides a superb score but not his best, and certainly not grand as Williams' Superman. Worth seeking out, best to try www.intrada.com or www.silvascreen.com .
