I was at a local comic shop this weekend and they had some of the other figures in the Eaglemoss line (the Supergirl figurine comes out September). They were much smaller than I’d imagined, and I would never buy them – not at the $18.95 CAN they were priced at! These things are tiny. I suppose if you had a bunch of them lined up they would look nice. But if you order one of these, be prepared for an itty bitty figurine the size of the DC Universe Infinite Heroes action figures.

I still think the pose is a great one, but I would only consider buying this if the costume were based on Jamal Igle’s design.

After a nice couple months off, I’m ready to start posting again starting with my impressions of Reign in Hell #1, which I plan to pick up tomorrow (new comics come out Thursdays here). I’ve been blissfully hype-free for a while, and I think that’s how I want to continue playing it: I’m just going to pick up the comics with as little info about them beforehand, and basically read them in a vacuum (i.e. without following other blogs, press releases, etc). As much as one can do on the internet, of course =)

Following the end of Smallville I was rather burnt out from reviewing a TV series I didn’t really enjoy that much. I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m just not masochistic enough to finish reviewing the episodes I didn’t get to. The fact that Smallville is dissing Supergirl and not inviting Laura Vandervoort back for the next season also left a really sour taste in my mouth, that going back to rewatch the episodes would be even more depressing.

I just wanna get back to enjoying comics.

- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - –

In other news, I’m considering the SUPERGIRL 1:6 SCALE Deluxe Collector Figure. However at $89.99 USD I don’t know if I can justify it =) I’ve already told myself I can’t buy the too too gorgeous Tonnor doll (shown further down the page in that link) but looking at it again….argh I want! I hope they hurry up and come out with the Barbie Collector Supergirl so my Flamebird and Nightwing action figures will have some company =) I bought ‘em at Keycon 25 way back in May*, but only recently took them out of the boxes, and they look SWELL. Poor Kara keeps falling over though because the way she’s built (one hip higher than the other, legs splayed too far apart) her centre of gravity is off. It’s a rather hilarious example of the superheroine pose that would never work in real life.

*Keycon was my first con, and it was awesome: I attended three very interesting panels that all happened to feature Tanya Huff, author of the Blood books. I was too shy to get her to sign anything, but I am *such* a fangirl now =) Oh, Jane Yolen was there too =)

Ami pointed me to this gorgeous new Supergirl Barbie, which is part of the Barbie Collector’s Fall 2008 line which also features Batgirl, Black Canary, and Wonder Woman dolls like you’ve never seen before.
Ami pointed me to this gorgeous new Supergirl Barbie, which is part of the Barbie Collector’s Fall 2008 line which also features Batgirl, Black Canary, and Wonder Woman dolls like you’ve never seen before. Okay, there were the amazing Tonner dolls from March 2007 but at $125 USD and up, those are out of reach for many casual collectors (and I like some of the new Barbie costumes better). And the 2003 Supergirl, Batgirl, Wondie, and Poison Ivy Barbies are long out of production.

No price is listed yet for these new DC Comics Barbies, but similar dolls on barbiecollector.com run from $24.95 USD (Pink Label), $24.95 USD (Silver Label) to $35.95 USD (Black Label). Not sure where they’ll be sold beyond the website and comicbook stores, but certain Barbie Collector’s dolls are Wal-Mart exclusives (ew, I know) so maybe they’ll be available there again?
