Supergirl: The Silver Age Omnibus Vol. 2 Delayed to May 2018

SUPERGIRL: THE SILVER AGE VOL. 2
[NOT FINAL COVER]

Supergirl: The Silver Age Omnibus Vol. 2 was originally solicited for release on Jan 16, 2018. The collection has been cancelled and re-solicited for May 22, 2018. DC Comics has released a new cover image for the collection, which is taken from Action Comics #266.

The updated ISBN for Supergirl: The Silver Age Omnibus Vol. 2 is currently on preorder at Amazon for $99.99 USD / $130.99 CAD.

The contents remain the same: 704 pages of Action Comics back-up stories from 1964-1969, most of which have never been reprinted. Stories are taken from Action Comics #308-333, #335-340, #342, #344-346, #348-350, #353-354, #356-359, #361-372 and #374-376. The skipped issues are reprinted stories.

Like the first Silver Age omnibus, these issues introduce a number of important developments in Supergirl’s history. Kara discovers her Kryptonian parents are still alive in the “Survival Zone” and builds a machine with the help of Fred Danvers to bring them back safely. Allura and Zor-El settle in the bottled city of Kandor in the Fortress of Solitude, but things become difficult as Allura begins to pine for her daughter and Kara is torn between her two sets of parents.

As Linda Danvers, she begins a complicated relationship with Lex Luthor’s sister, Lena Thorul (who bears little resemblance to her TV counterpart), and she finally graduates from Midvale High School and leaves home to attend Stanhope College (which doesn’t seem to differ much from high school). And the Comet story gets even weirder.
