Sterling Gates on Supergirl: “I really tried hard to make the direction of that character about the hero’s journey, and about her maturing into that role, the ‘S’, the super S on her chest, and living up to that ideal. The touchstone that I always went back to is that she’s always striving so hard to be SUPER.”
It makes all the difference in the world to know that Jamal Igle chose to leave the book. I’m still terribly sad about Jamal leaving, but knowing it was his choice is a relief (unfortunately it seems to have led to Sterling Gates being pushed off the book, which I’m sure was never expected).

DC just announced some devastating news at NYCC: Sterling Gates and Jamal Igle are being replaced on SUPERGIRL. Because they, uh, hate good storytelling and a super family book they can be proud of?
I continue to enjoy the Bizarro story tremendously. It’s got bizarro humor, poignant moments between super cousins, giant space insects, and an exploding cubic planet only our hero can save!
Supergirl #55 was a super fun time! Silver Age zaniness, lessons learned from a twisted version of Supergirl, movement on the Cat Grant front, X-ray vision used as intended, impulse issues, and a parting shot of Supergirl commandeering a spaceship to travel to Bizarro World.
